Where should a small business use AI first?
Do not start with a chat box. Pick one task that repeats every day and often goes late or wrong.
Many firms sell AI by dropping a chat box onto a website. It can answer a few familiar questions. It does nothing about the work that is actually slowing the company down.
The first job worth trying is usually one that repeats every day or every week: a warning when stock is low, a suggested delivery schedule, a first read of invoices and documents. Those jobs already have history the AI can learn from.
Before you build, answer three questions. Who receives the suggestion? Are they allowed to ignore it? What happens if it is wrong? If you cannot answer, do not build yet.
Once it is running, do not leave it alone. Prices, seasons, and the way you sell all change, and the AI's answers drift with them. Someone needs to look at it regularly and adjust it.
